The San Juan Island Library’s Be Creative @ Your Library Summer Reading Program for Pre-School and Elementary School aged children will host fun entertainment and encourage children to read each Wednesdayat 1:30 pm on the grassy knoll at Friday Harbor Elementary School.

Sign ups for the reading program will begin at the first event. Achievable reading goals are set for each of the three divisions (Pre-K and K, 1st through 3rd grade, 4th and 5th grade) and prizes are given out in 4 intervals to reward achieving reading milestones.

The program lasts 8 weeks and at the Grand Finale on Wednesday, August 5th, a grand prize will be drawn for each division from the “finishers” entries. The more times a child finishes the goal, the more entries in the grand prize drawing. The Pre-K and K division will be drawing for a Polaroid digital camera and the 1st through 3rd grade and the 4th and 5th grade divisions will both draw for individual Flip video camcorders.
