Adult Programs Associate

The San Juan Island Library District is seeking a creative and self-motivated individual to serve as Adult Programs Associate to initiate, plan and implement programs for adult community members, and to manage social media communications.

Responsibilities include seeking and evaluating possible programs, planning finances and logistics, producing quality print and online marketing materials, conducting and troubleshooting all technological aspects and equipment used in in-person and virtual programs, and managing and producing social media communications. Scheduled 6 hours/week on the Library Front Desk. Excellent technological and people skills, event planning, marketing experience and a bachelor’s degree are required. Successful experience in public library service and experience with computers in libraries preferred.

This is a salaried, 30-hours-per-week, variable-schedule position, evenings, weekdays and weekends included, with an annual wage of $44,550-$54,150, excellent benefits including health, life, AD&D, short- and long-term disability, and medical flight insurance, plus vacation, sick, and paid family and medical leave, 13 paid holidays, participation in a PERS retirement plan and deferred compensation, and a flex (FSA 125) health care/child care plan.

General Maintenance Worker

The San Juan Island Library District is seeking a qualified individual to perform general maintenance, repairs, and landscaping for facilities, equipment, and grounds located at 660 Spring Street, Friday Harbor.

Requirements:  High school diploma or equivalent; three (3) years experience in performing general maintenance, repairs, and landscaping for buildings and grounds utilizing the knowledge, skills and abilities required; ability to use hand tools and power tools; time management skills; strong self-starter and effective use of independent judgment.

This is a 15-hour position with wage range of $30.78 to $37.42 per hour.  Duties may vary seasonally.  Prorated vacation, sick and holiday leave are included.  Health insurance and PERS retirement benefit are not included.  Position is expected to last for one to four years.

Fundraising Associate

The San Juan Island Library District is seeking a passionate, proactive, experienced individual to plan and conduct fundraising activities to support operations and maintenance of the current library, and for the new library building project.

This is a part-time hourly position for 15 hours per week to start with some flexibility as to schedule. Workdays are both traditional and non-traditional as necessary to support events and other activities. Partial remote work optional. This position reports to the library director.

Salary range: $27,450 – $33,360 per year. Benefits: prorated paid vacation and sick leave; paid holidays. No retirement or health benefits.

Requirements include a minimum of two years of experience in a nonprofit or educational development role; proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; excellent verbal and written communication skills, including large group presentations; ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects to meet deadlines; excellent interpersonal skills.

Preferred requirements included an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field; familiarity with San Juan Island community and library services/programs; database management experience (Bloomerang, Raiser’s Edge or similar); event planning experience; graphic design experience
